When you step into the DanceXS studio, we’ll welcome you with open arms… or a dip and a twirl. There are no divas here – just like-minded souls who share a love of music and movement. DanceXS is the creation of award-winning dancer and choreographer Stefano Olivieri… and everyone is welcome.
Our Latin and ballroom dance classes are ideal to indulge a passion, learn a new skill… or prepare for a magical wedding. We also have a range of classes, including Barre Attack and Kangatraining, for fun and fitness. And for corporates, our dance lessons for adults are a perfect way to break the ice and enhance team cohesion. We’ll come to your workplace – and you’ll have a world-class teacher.
We love dance – and we’re sure you do too. However, we also understand that it can be a little daunting stepping into a new studio for the first time … so here’s how we make it as easy as possible.
Your first dance
Our adult classes run Tuesday nights and you can start any time. We want to keep our studio accessible to all, so we also keep it affordable. It’s $25 for a casual visit; or $20 per class sold in a block of six that you can use in non-consecutive weeks. If you miss a class, there’s no pressure.
We provide a free trial lesson so you can get a feel for our studio – and we’ll check in after the class to make sure you’re 100% ready to go. And because all of our teachers are amazing – need we say shining stars – we offer extra guidance and encouragement to anyone who needs a helping hand.
There’s no problem if you don’t have a partner or friend who wants to come along either. We’ll team you up so you can hit the dance floor with another wonderful student who’s travelling solo. Trust us. You’ll love it!
Back to basics
While we adore ballroom dancing at DanceXS, we’re not too tied up in ceremony. So we don’t require formal attire for ballroom dance classes. For adults, we simply ask that you wear casual clothes and flat, comfortable shoes (no stilettos please).
Once you’ve had a few lessons and are starting to gain confidence, we do recommend dance shoes. You’ll look super stylish – dare we say dapper – and most importantly, they will help you glide across the dance floor with ease. We’re here to help with a pop-up uniform shop once a month that caters for kids and adults.
Our contemporary space is one of Australia’s best. It features three purpose-built air-conditioned studios with state-of-the-art dance floors, a quality sound system and immaculate changing facilities. For parents, we provide café-style seating to enjoy your child’s lesson in comfort.
Cute kids 101
Our kids’ ballroom classes are best for children who can give our teacher their full attention, so we recommend ages six and up.
For our littlest dance stars, our Sparkle Ballet is ideal to refine gross motor skills and introduce the wonderful world of movement and song.
We prefer boys to wear a black t-shirt and trousers; and girls to have a black or dark skirt with a leotard or comfortable top.
However, if you’re coming straight from school, uniforms are absolutely fine.
For kids’ lessons, we find it easiest to book in for a term, but if you’re starting late we’ll only charge you a part-fee to cover the lessons you use. If you’re heading on holiday, just let us know beforehand and you’ll receive a credit for that lesson.
